Predicting Income-Decreasing Forced Financial Restatement

This study explored the varied characteristics of misstatement firms, which serve as foundation to develop a model that predicts income-decreasing forced restatement (IDFR). Multivariate logit regression was performed on 4,698 firm-years Malaysian listed firms from 2002 2012. The results were tested for robustness using stepwise and penalised likelihood model. Several factors, such share price volatility, independent board directors, company's internal fund, political connection, emerged main predictors IDFR. proposes prediction synthesises financial non-financial aspects in terms scaled probability (F-score), may function red flag income-increasing warrant further investigation.
